Gluten Free Restaurants in Portland, Oregon: 2026 Celiac Guide

Portland is one of the best cities in the United States for eating gluten free, and for once the reputation is earned. Find Me Gluten Free counts dozens of fully dedicated gluten-free places in the city, including restaurants, bakeries, a donut shop and the first dedicated gluten-free brewery in the country. For a celiac, that means a lot of meals where cross-contact simply isn’t on the table.

The catch is that Portland’s food scene moves fast. Food carts come and go, restaurants move neighborhoods, and several places that still show up on “best of” lists have closed. This guide was re-checked in September 2026 against each venue’s own site and recent listings, and the closures are collected in their own section below so you don’t walk to an empty storefront.

How to read it: where a venue states on its own site that its kitchen is dedicated gluten free, we say so. Where that claim comes from community listings or press only, we say “reported”. Shared kitchens are labeled as shared. Nothing here replaces asking about your own sensitivity when you order.

Tips for Eating Gluten Free in Portland

  1. Book a neighborhood, not a list. SE Division and Hawthorne, NE Alberta and Mississippi Ave, and the Pearl District each cluster several safe options, so you can plan around them.
  2. Food carts change fast. Confirm today’s location on the cart’s Instagram before crossing town.
  3. Check hours. Many bakeries close by mid-afternoon and several restaurants close between lunch and dinner.
  4. Look up recent reviews. Search “celiac” or “gluten” inside Google Maps reviews and look at the dates. Our Find Me Gluten Free review explains how to read its ratings, and the Gluten Dude review covers a smaller, hand-vetted list.
