This Privacy Policy describes how GF Scanner handles the information collected when you use our Gluten Scanner & Restaurant Finder services.
INFORMATION WE COLLECT
📍 Location Data (Optional)
To show gluten-free restaurants near you, we request access to your precise location. This data is processed on your device and/or sent to our database solely to fetch nearby results. We do not track your movement history.
📷 Camera & Images
We access your camera solely to scan food labels (barcodes or ingredient lists). Images are sent to OpenAI's API (GPT-4o) for AI-powered gluten content analysis. Only the food image is transmitted — no personal information (name, email, location) is attached to these requests. OpenAI processes API data under their enterprise terms and does not use it to train their models. Images are not permanently stored on our servers or by OpenAI after analysis.
📊 Usage Data (Anonymous)
We use third-party tools (like Firebase and RevenueCat) to collect anonymous technical data:

AI-POWERED FEATURES
Our app uses OpenAI's artificial intelligence to provide two features:
🔍 Food Scanner: When you scan a food product, the photo is sent to OpenAI's API for ingredient analysis and gluten detection. Only the food image is sent — no personal data is included.
🍳 Recipe Suggestions: Product names may be sent to OpenAI to generate gluten-free recipe ideas.
OpenAI acts as a data processor and does not use API inputs to train their models. For more information, see OpenAI's API Data Privacy.
USER GENERATED CONTENT
If you choose to add a new restaurant or upload a photo/review to the community map, that information will be publicly visible to other users of the app.

We implement industry-standard security measures. However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure.
